The YSU Student Government Association is proud to announce that, beginning this semester, it will sponsor a semi-annual “Last Lecture” series.
“Words to Live By”: A Last Lecture Series will feature a different university professor or administrator each time and ask them to answer the following hypothetical question: “If you could give one final lecture, what would you tell your students?”
The Student Government Association is pleased to have YSU’s incoming President, Dr. Cynthia Anderson, as the inaugural speaker.
If this sounds familiar, you are probably thinking of the late Dr. Randy Pausch, a professor at Carnegie Mellon University whose “last lecture” gained fame because when he presented the lecture he was dying of cancer.
While Dr. Pausch’s lecture made the concept famous, in reality the practice of a professor giving a hypothetical “last lecture” is a long standing academic practice at universities in both the United States and around the world.
The event is April 13, 2010 at 3pm in the Ohio Room, Kilcawley Center and is free and open to the public.
