Minutes for March 15, 2010

The PRESIDING OFFICER (Mr. Zachary BROWN) called the meeting to order at precisely (4:05pm)

Mr. O’NEIL took roll call. [See: Attendance list is attached.]

Mr. BROWN summarized the meeting’s agenda and advised that previous mettings minutes will be approved at next meeting

Quorum was reached with 25 of 35 voting members present

Mr. Brown Moved into Executive Business

EXECUTIVE BUSINESS:

Mr. Brown Yielded to VP for Financial Affairs, Ms. Stafford

Ms. Stafford reported that Student Government has $9,595.00 Unappropriated

Ms. Stafford advised that they had to have a special session over the weekend to get the appropriations for SB S 2010-04

Mr. Brown moved into Committee Reports

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Mr. Brown Yielded to University Affairs

Mr. Daugherty was not present to give report today

Ms. Peterson was not present to give report today either

Ms. Koneval gave report on Academic Affairs

Ms. Koneval informed students about Last Lecture Series

Ms. Koneval advised that they would like to see Dr. Anderson, incoming University President, as the inaugural speaker.

Ms. Koneval infnformed this body that Ms. Anderson has been contacted and would be happy to provide the inaugural lecture.

Mr. Brown yielded to Ms. Gessler for Student life report

Ms. Gessler gave Student Life report about meet the reps night part 2

Ms. Gessler advised that this will be on March 18th, Thursday.

Ms. Gessler responded to question from Mr. Brown about dealing with cost of food for May Day

Ms. Cullen asked for number of students at previous May Day

Mr. Dan DeMaiolo informed possibly 800 people.

Mr. Brown gave time to Mr. Daugherty, as he was recognized despite tardiness

Mr. Duagherty informed that he is setting up meeting with Mike Chreshanko about the Email Project

Mr. Daugherty informed that there will be clean up in april for Wick Pollick Gardens

Mr. McIntyre was not present, Mr. Brown Yeilded to Ms. Stafford

Mr. Stafford advised that protestant campus ministrys appropriated amount got $0 because the appropriations committee felt that there was no appropriate merit for their trip

Mr. Daugherty asked why we would even bring up appropriating 0$

Ms. Staffored advised so that the body could vote on the issue

Mr. Brown closed discussion on Committee Reports and moved into Unfinished Business

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Ms. Twyford Opened Unfinished business

Ms. Twyford talked about Haiti Benefit Ad Hoc Committee

Advised that the event is coming along well and thet already have items donated

Mr. Brown Closed Unfinished business and moved in New Business

NEW BUSINESS:

Mr. Brown moved to discussion on SB S 2010-05

Ms. Koneval and Mr. McIntyre moved for discussion

Mr O’Neil requested that Section 2 be read aloud to the body

Mr. Daugherty requested that Section 1 Be read aloud to the body

Mr Rauscher 1st Ms. D’Orio 2nd

Motion carry’s with Ayes having it

Mr. Daugherty Abstain

SB S 2010-05 passed

Mr. Brown moved onto Advisors and Member Remarks

ADVISOR AND MEMBER REMARKS:

Mr. Brown began the gavel pass, so that students may give their remarks

Dr. Manning advised that we are beyond the halfway point now for this semester

Dr. Cooper gave his words of encouragement
