Minutes for February 22, 2010

The PRESIDING OFFICER (Mr. Zachary BROWN) called the meeting to order at precisely (4:00pm)

Mr. O’NEIL took roll call. [See: Attendance list is attached.]

Mr. BROWN summarized the meeting’s agenda and advised that previous mettings minutes will be approved at next meeting

Quorum was reached with 27 of 35 voting members present

Mr. Brown Moved into Executive Business

EXECUTIVE BUSINESS:

Mr. Brown yielded time to Adam Earnheardt from Student Internet Radio

Advised that they are trying to give students a radio station on campus.

Advised that they have 3-5 students working on this now

Advised that they need nearly 100 students involved to really get this to be productive

Advised that he has support form Cynthia Anderson and would like to get our body involved with this project

Mr. Brown gave his presidents reports

He talked about following up on the letters he requested from the chairs of committees

Also advised that students wishing to run for SGA again should get their petitions taken from the office

Mr. Brown Yielded to VP for Financial Affairs, Ms. Stafford

Ms. Stafford reported that Student Government has $9,595.00 Unappropriated

Ms. Stafford advised that they had to have a special session over the weekend to get the appropriations for SB S 2010-04

Mr. Brown moved into Committee Reports

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Mr. Brown Yielded to University Affairs

Mr. Daugherty was not present in the last committee meeting

Ms. Peterson was not present to give report today either

Ms. Koneval gave report on Academic Affairs

Ms. Koneval informed students about the Last Lecture Series

Mr. Brown said he was thinking that we should put out an advertisment and have professors nominate themselves

Ms. D’Orio said that she belives that it would be good to have professors who want to take part in it during the meeting of academic affairs

Mr. Nicholas Meditz took a point of personal privilege

Ms. Gessler gave Student Life report about meet the reps night part 2

She talked about having a rockin with the reps, but was unable to get manpower amassed

Decided then to co-sponsor a penguin pre party instead

Mr. Ryan Meditz took a point of Personal Privilege

Mr. Brown yielded to Mr. McIntyre

Mr. McIntyre yielded to representatives from:

Criminal Justice Graduate Student Association – None Present

New Music Association – None Present

Mr. McIntyre yielded to questions

Mr. Brown closed discussion on Committee Reports and moved into Unfinished Business

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Ms. Twyford Opened Unfinished business

Ms. Twyford talked about Haiti Benefit Ad Hoc Committee

Advised that the event is coming along well and thet already have items donated

Mr. Brown Closed Unfinished business and moved in New Business

NEW BUSINESS:

Mr. Brown moved for discussion on a Charter and By-laws ad hoc committee

Wants this group to update and proof read the SGA Charter and By-Laws

Took nomination for Chairing the committee

Ms. Twyford accepted nomination

Ms Koneval, Mr. Mesick, Mr. Sovesky volunteered to join the Ad- Hoc

Mr. Brown moved to discussion on SB S 2010-04

Ms. Koneval and Mr. McIntyre moved for discussion

Ms. Stafford moved to a friendly amendment so as to include on SB S 2010-04 Section 1 and 2 on the same bill

Amendment passed and SB S 2010-04 was approved unanimously with acclimation

Mr. Brown moved onto Advisors and Member Remarks

ADVISOR AND MEMBER REMARKS:

Mr. Brown began the gavel pass, so that students may give their remarks

Dr. Manning advised that we are at the halfway point now for this semester

Dr. Cooper gave his words of encouragement
